I really like Kickstarter in terms of allowing projects to happen. I've backed people from this community, YouTubers and lots of DnD style projects.

One such company is zealotminiatures.com who make some pretty cool models. I'm currently waiting out for my military set to arrive

DnD pc sketches

2 min read
Currently drafting up my own interpretation of the D&D starter set. As well as the copious notes I'm making I've started making sketches the Pcs. My intention being to draw both male and female versions of the same characters. First up was the hill dwarf cleric. For full transparency I took the pose and proportionality from Macomb Seepwood's Sad Dwarf. The original is a really strong piece and really helped me get a handle on how to avoid making dwarfs looks disproportionately wrong.

I've now inked the sketch and will copy and colour with markers... depending on how functional my printer is.

It's been a long time since last doing any work. I've been having quite a bit of trouble from anger and depression. My counsellor has managed to help me get an anger on being angry and now it's really a case of getting my shit together and getting active, both mentally and physically, to kind of squish the depression

I sat down today and set to work on creating something just to get the practice in and I'm quite happy the way this has turned out.  I actually approached the sktech in a different way.  Usually I just use a single pencil and then ink after.  Today I cleared off the work top and the laid out the pencils, sorting them by grade, from hard to black.

When I started the sketch if was with a 8H to get vague shapes in and then shifted to 7H, I worked through the pencils with each adding more detail and richness to the sketch.  And it was fun and very relaxing.

I put pencil to pad today for the first time since June.  Motivated more by frustration at my own laziness than anything else.

Having scanned it and put it up in my scrap book, I decided to route around in my old DVDs and pull out some old sketches I did a couple of years back.

Now let this be understood, the aren't originals.  Neither are they what I'm aiming at my own work becoming.  I think I'm on a different path these days, so when eventaully I'm in the position to post up something other than scraps, it will be sharper than these older works, although I do still have a fondness and pride for them.
